I was at home this weekend working on the final touches to my upcoming product launch when my doorbell rang. It was a little annoying because I was right in the middle of something, but I hopped up and went to the door. When I opened it I looked down and saw a little boy, who was probably about 6 or 7 years old, looking up at me.

As he held up two worn out looking plastic bags filled with rocks, he asked me if I would like to buy one of his rocks. Then he made me an irresistible offer…I could buy one for either $.25 or $1. Well, despite the fact that I was not in the market for a rock as well as the fact that the “product” in this case was not even particularly special, my wife scrounged up some change and we told him to pick out one he thought was worth $.75.

Now I realize some of you diehard networkers would have tried to recruit this young entrepreneur into your business but we just happily took our new rock and got back to work. After he left we couldn’t help but wonder how long it will take him to become a millionaire…

When I thought about why I was happy I had purchased something that I wasn’t in the market to buy, wasn’t even that great and was presented to me while I was busy doing something and didn’t want to be interrupted, it made me think about one of the key concepts that I have learned over the past couple of years in network marketing.

It’s really not about your product or business opportunity, or their incredible features and benefits…sure, it helps if they are at least reasonably good. But really, in order to even get to the market these days that is pretty much a given.

People ultimately buy from you or join your opportunity because of the personal relationship you have established with them, the connection you have made with them or the desire they have to do business with you for whatever reason (I bought a rock I didn’t want or need because I wanted to help out an ambitious young entrepreneur).

The launch of Mike Dillard’s What’s Working Now Newsletter was announced in a recent e-mail that Mike sent out to his list. The newsletter will be released around the end of March. In his message Mike described it as his biggest launch to date. That is understandable based on the incredible amount of value that is supposed to be included in the What’s Working Now newsletter.

The monthly newsletter will be delivered to the inbox of subscribers with links to 1-2 hours of training by top industry leaders. The training offered will include step by step training on some of the hottest internet marketing tactics being used by people such as Daegan Smith, Ann Sieg, Mark Hoverson, Todd Falcone, Jonathan Budd and more. The training offered will cover the latest and greatest techniques that are relevant to today’s marketplace, hence the name What’s Working Now.

The first edition will include a peak over the shoulder of Daegan Smith as he demonstrates how he started a new adwords campaign from scratch and built it to 105+ leads a day.

Magnetic Sponsoring Elite Partnership Program

It’s official, Mike Dillard just sent out an e-mail announcing the long-anticipated upgrade to the powerful Magnetic Sponsoring system, and it’s called the Magnetic Sponsoring Elite Partnership Program.

Mike has answered the calls of many of his affiliates and designed a customizable system that will allow Elite members the opportunity to integrate their own personal Aweber or iContact autoresponder accounts. This change means that members can now generate leads and actually own their list that they can market to over time.

In addition to being able to integrate Aweber or iContact, Magnetic Sponsoring Elite Partnership Program affiliates will also receive the following benefits:

1. The ability to brand their information along with Mike Dillard in the e-book version of the products they sell. The information they can include along with a customizable message will be: name, photo, website, contact information and social sites.

2. An increased commission rate. It will go from 40% for free affiliates to 51% for Elite affiliates.

3. Elite affiliates will be able to buy past products as well as future releases for 50% off of the retail price.

Mike is opening up pre-enrollment for this program to the first 200 out the 150,000 existing affiliates who decide to join. By you securing your membership early, you will receive a huge discount off of the regular price of $1,997. During this early period, the first 200 affiliates that join will be able to do so for $997, with a yearly renewal of $497.

In his announcement video, Mike stated that he has purposely set the bar high for this program beacuse he truly wants it to be an “Elite” program for leaders of the industry.

Mike also announced the upcoming launch of a newsletter called “What’s Working Now“, which will include hours of step by step video instruction from industry leaders such as Daegan Smith, Ann Sieg, Mark Hoverson and more. He has also revealed the first place prize for the number affiliate of the “What’s Working Now” newsletter. The prize will be a $140K Audi R8, as seen in the movie Iron Man.

I remember twelve years ago when I made my first real attempt to start building a network marketing business. At the time, I had been working in the corporate world for a little over a year and was in the process of trying to start my own company.

I had become a student of personal development, so when I met a 27 year old millionaire who had already achieved the success I desired, I knew that the smart thing to do was to model his actions and hopefully get the same results. Well, while this is generally very good advice, there are a few other things in the equation that need to be considered.

When a friend of mine told me about this young superstar entrepreneur who had become a millionaire in sixteen months by building a successful network marketing business, I knew I had just found the road map to success that I had been looking for. It turned out that this young guy had made all of his money in a previous company and was now involved with a new start-up company that offered us the chance to be among the first to get in at the “ground floor”.

Not knowing what I should be looking for in a company, or what questions I should have been asking, I opted to follow this young “successful leader”. After all, he was already a millionaire, driving a Ferrari and Mercedes at the age of 27, and seemed to be an expert at what he was doing.

The day I decided to join this company, I was the epitome of what a lot of industry veterans refer to as “ignorance on fire”. I don’t remember the exact number for sure, but I believe that on the day that I faxed in my paperwork to join my new company, I also had 17 other applications of people I had already sponsored into the business.

From everything I knew about leveraging the efforts of other people with network marketing, I was sure that I was poised for massive success. I rented rooms to hold our meetings at our local community center, printed invitations, cold called network marketers from other companies, held lunch meetings, made countless three-way calls and invited anyone who would listen to our conference calls.

Everything seemed to be going great for the first month. Then one day, shortly after getting started, I got the news that this new “ground floor opportunity” had already been run into the ground. This company was already out of business in less than one year of doing business. I was upset to say the least.

When I look back on this series of events, I now know that I learned quite a bit from that experience, and I wouldn’t change the way things happened because of that. However, there is no need for you to have to go through a similar experience, so I want to share with you some of the things I learned and what I wish someone like me could have told me back then:

1. Even more important than how great a product seems to be, is the quality of the management team of the company you are considering joining. A strong and experienced management team is absolutely crucial to the success of a company. The quality of your company’s product is important, but the quality of the management team is crucial. A company can have the greatest product around, but if the management team is clueless, then they won’t be around long.

2. Once you are comfortable with the management team that is in place with the company you are considering, one of the most important decisions you will make is the team within the company that you decide to join. You want to be able to find a team that fits your personality and style and will offer the type of training and mentorship that will allow you to constantly improve your level of skill and personal growth.

3. Make sure you know exactly “Why” you want to succeed in a home business. If you have a strong enough “Why” coupled with the system your team uses to build the business, you can achieve massive success. Your “Why” is what will drive you to keep working hard on your goals when things aren’t going just the way you expected.

4. Don’t worry about jumping into a hot new business just because you can get in on the “ground floor”. The sad fact is that most new companies don’t succeed, which is why you need to spend time making sure you are comfortable with the competence level of the management team. If a company is truly offering a great opportunity today, then it will likely still be a great opportunity six months or a year down the road.

5. Have fun building your business, or in whatever you decide to do with your life. Life is brief and it is not a trial run…everyday is the real deal, so make the most of it. Before I got to the point in my life where I knew I was doing exactly what I wanted to be doing, I used to struggle with some of things I would read and listen to about achieving success. One of these ideas that challenged me was the following question: “If you were given a check for a million dollars tomorrow, would you change what you are currently doing with your life?” If the answer to this question is yes, then you are in serious jeopardy of wasting the precious time that you have been given in your life.

Realizing the power of building your network marketing list will help to set you apart from the average network marketer. The typical network marketer who purchases leads will call them and then just move on to the next one if the person is not interested. The problem with this approach is that network marketing is all about timing for people.

Just because you contact someone today and they are not interested in joining your business, it does not mean that they will never be interested. For this reason, it is important to be able to add these prospects into a lead funnel where you can set up an automated relationship building communication process.

Once a new lead is added to your funnel you have the ability to market anything you choose to this person until they opt out of your list. If you set up an automated communication process through the use of auto-responder messages, you can control the frequency of your relationship building communications.

As your list begins to grow to thousands and eventually tens of thousands over time, the timing will eventually be “right” for someone on your list virtually everyday of the week. One of the most powerful aspects of building a list is the fact that if you monetize it properly, you can add a constant stream of new leads to your funnel for free.

To your success,

It is important to realize the power of internet MLM outsourcing and the positive effect it can have on the efficiency of your internet MLM business.

Building an effective internet business requires a substantial amount of time and effort. The work required to operate an internet MLM can broken down into two categories, business building and non-business building activities. In order to maximize the time spent doing business building activities, outside sources should be utilized for non-business building activities that are time consuming.

Business building activities basically consist of the actual time that you spend personally communicating with your business prospects. These activities are similar to “flight hours” for pilots. Pilots do some things in their jobs outside of their flight duties, but when someone is analyzing their experience as a pilot, “flight hours” are the only thing that matter. The same is true when building your MLM business; talking to your prospects is what counts as a business building activity.

Activities such as copywriting, graphic design, article writing, pay per click advertising campaigns and search engine optimization are all examples of non-business building activities that can be executed by using outside business resources. A great resource for many of these services is a website called http://www.elance.com . You can utilize the services of freelance artists from this website and others like it to give yourself a competitive edge by making sure you spend your time in the wisest possible fashion as you build your business.

To your success,

When you joined your MLM company you were probably led to believe that by joining the company as a new distributor you now owned your own business. In reality, as an MLM distributor you are really little more than a straight commission salesperson. In this role you are left at the mercy of outside forces with no control over the decisions being made by the company you represent. If the owners decide to shut it down or change the direction of their business, you can’t do anything about it.

So, what’s my point? Well, the point is that the MLM you represent is not your business, but it is an important piece of the business that you should be building, which is as Mike Dillard calls it, “You, Inc.”.

If you were to study the top one half of one percent of the top money earners in the network marketing industry, you would notice a common theme. Most of these leaders are primarily focused on building their own “Brand” as leader and building up tangible assets and systems that they can plug into the promotion of whatever company they decide to join. They are not solely at the mercy of the decisions made by their company’s owners. Are you? The assets that these business owners build have real measurable value, a sharp contrast to the distributor who simply builds their downline thinking they are a business owner.

To your success,

Natasha and I have spent the last eleven months expanding our
knowledge of “Attraction Marketing” and learning how to build our
business on the internet. During this time one of the
interesting and unexpected outcomes of our attraction marketing
efforts has been all of the e-mails we have received from people who
are cross-line from us in our in our own business.

Along with the frequent e-mails we receive from people who want to
join our business, we also receive a lot of e-mails from people who
have become frustrated while trying to build their business
and have reached out to us hoping that we could help them
experience the success we have had. Natasha showed me an e-mail she
recently received and I thought it was worth sharing:

Hello Natasha,
My name is R. I would like to know how you would help me build my
business. My current sponsor is as much help as the dirt in
the yard.
Sincerly,
R

The reason I wanted to share this e-mail with you was twofold. First,
I want you think about the qualities and expertise that you bring to
the table as a sponsor for the people who join your business. Are
you constantly striving to learn more? If you don’t have a specific
plan for your personal growth your business will suffer. Second, I
want to point out the importance of seeking out the right sponsor
when you are considering a new opportunity.

The person who sent the message above was clearly frustrated with
the sponsor they chose. When you are considering a new business and
sponsor, make sure that you take some time to find out how your
potential sponsor builds their business. If you are interested in
learning how to build your business using the internet you probably
need to make sure your that sponsor knows the difference between
a blog and a forum. The same is true for someone who wishes to build
their business using face to face methods like talking to everyone
within a three foot radius at their local Starbucks and attending
weekly hotel meetings…either make sure your sponsor knows how to
build their business the way you want to build it or be ready to
spend considerable time teaching yourself.

To your success,

I decided to spend some time tonight listening to one of my favorite
mentors while I was working on my computer, so I pulled out my ipod
and cranked up a program by Jim Rohn. If you’re not familiar with
him, you may want to check out his material and start listening to
his philosophies on business and success, they are a real eye opener.

One of the points he made that hit home with me today was the notion
that if you are analyzing your success in a business or a job, you
should not be asking “What am I getting here?, but rather, “What am
I becoming here?” and “Is that okay?”

Are you growing and becoming a better leader as you build your
business? Are people being drawn to want to do business with you
because you have invested the time and effort to build your expertise?
Or, are you spending your time chasing disinterested prospects
around and solely focusing on how much money you will make from
your next sale.

Spend some time thinking about what you are becoming from your current
business building strategies and don’t forget what Zig Ziglar always
says about success, “If you’ll help enough people get what they want,
you can get everything you want.”

To your success,

Natasha just sent me this e-mail that she received today, and I thought
it was a great demonstration of the power of attraction marketing.

It is a good example of the difference between spending your time
chasing disinterested prospects and attracting people who are
interested in joining your business. Natasha received this e-mail today

from a complete stranger:

Hello Natasha! My excitment has grown each day since first discovering ____
through a great family friend. The excitment came exponentially when
I began reading the forums and endless list of FAQs that you have
taken a generous deal of time in answering for your team members.
The honesty you provide in gearing people toward an interest in the
opportunity at hand is comforting. It really seems as if you are
dedicated in growing your business and helping your team members
do the same. And for that I know everyone is thankful. My confession

is that, like most people, I am overwhelmed with the
opportunity that is being presented and am ready to dive right into
it without exactly understanding the marketing and advertising that
is involved. I am truly a novice. I am eighteen years old and still
living at home with my parents, but have decided this is a venture
worth my time and worth the cost it will take to allow my business
to flourish. I feel with your guidance success is inevitable and I
am willing to do my part. I understand the amount of emails like mine

you must sift through on a daily basis so I Thank You for your

reply in advance and I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Sincerely, C. S.

If your inbox is not getting messages like this one from people you

don’t even know who want to join your business, you may want

to check this out:

Beach and toured the Santa Barbara wine country. It was great to take
a break and get re-charged for all of the exciting things in store for
the upcoming year. Of course, while we were vacationing we were
fortunate enough to benefit from the work we had done on our business
earlier in the year.

The interesting thing about part of our business growth was that we
went skiing in Big Bear Lake and two days later when we were eating
lunch in Santa Monica, Natasha checked her Blackberry and informed me
that we had just sponsored a person from Big Bear Lake into our
business. This sponsorship would not have surprised us as much
if we had spent hours handing out business cards and prospecting
while we were there, but we actually did not do any business building
activities while we visited Big Bear, the person found us on the internet!
